"What inspires you? That’s a question that can provoke a wide range of responses. The answer you receive will be strikingly different from one person to the next. We’ve all had unique experiences that cause us to react and view the world in different ways. Which is why I find a lot of my inspiration comes from the world of abstract art. There’s something fascinating about the way unique forms, shapes, and colors can come together to form something that has no words to specifically identify exactly what it is you’re looking at. It’s an image that has never been seen before. An image that can have varying effects on people depending on who is viewing it. One hundred people could look at one specific abstract piece of art and you could conceivably have one hundred different reactions to it. The possibilities of what a piece could be or mean are only limited to ones own imagination. Upon the completion of a piece, there’s nothing quite like having an opportunity to speak with individuals about what it is that they see in my work. It’s fascinating. You can learn so much about people. How the think, how they view the world, how certain images effect them and why. And it all stems from a grouping of shapes, forms and colors that come together but don’t form anything that you can specifically put a label on.
